One of the most powerful electric bicycles we’ve ever tested, the KKBike K26S electric mountain bike they sent to review is an amazing value at this price point. You don’t typically see this much power with this many features at electric bikes under $5000.
Weighing in at about 73 pounds including the ten-pound battery, the powerful brushless 750W BAFANG motor with – check this out – a max output of 1200W and max torque 85 Newton meters – provides insane power at speeds up to 31MPH, providing enough power for your daily commute, or exploring your favorite mountain trails. Heck, the K26S is actually faster than my 97 Jeep Wrangler! Don’t worry about the battery situation, because KKBike supplies a very generous removable 48V 17.5Ah LG lithium-ion battery. And this is pretty cool – the battery is equipped with a separate protection switch, keeping it safe. LG cells means it’s stable and high performance, and 840 Watt-hours will get you somewhere between 40 and 70 miles between charges, obviously depending on your weight, how much you pedal, incline, wind resistance, and all that stuff. A full charge takes between 5-6 hours.
Most ebikes at this price point only have front suspension, if you’re lucky. But KKBike’s K26S has a lockable front fork AND a chonky aluminum rear shock, giving you FULL suspension, and a much cushier ride. The fat 26” x 4.0” KENDA Fat all-terrain tires provide even more cushion for pushin’ on mountain trails, mud, snow and sandy beaches. And – yet ANOTHER bonus – hydraulic brakes! These are super smooth, effectively reducing the force required by your hands when braking downhill, which can cause riding fatigue. The pads are low noise, have good wear resistance, fast cooling and pretty impressive braking performance in a variety of harsh conditions. And, when you want to ride your K26S like a straight-up bicycle, the Shimano 8-speed drivetrain provides accurate and smooth shifting capability.
Multifunctional color LCD display with a USB charging port gives your K26s electric mountain bike four working modes: Electric throttle-only Mode, five level pedal assist mode, the old-school Ordinary Bicycle mode, and a pretty snazzy cruise-control Mode, so there’s something for all riding needs. Oh, and there’s a legit headlight too that looks like they pulled it out of an airplane because it’s LED and super bright! They threw in a couple of freebies too – front and rear fenders, plus a seatpost mounted taillight.
KKBike recommends ride heights between 5’5” and 6’8” with a maximum weight load of 330 pounds.
The warranty is a very generous 24 months for the battery, 12 months for the charger/motor/controller/lcd display; and 90 DAYS warranty for other accessories that might fail due to natural conditions. KKBike offers 24 hour online customer service and great after-sales service.
