The Himiway A7: Your Ultimate Commuting Companion

Tired of traffic jams and looking for a greener, more exhilarating way to get around town? The Himiway A7, a feature-packed electric commuter bike, might be the perfect solution.

My first electric bike was the original Himiway Cruiser back in 2019. They have come a LONG way since then.

The A7 is designed to transform your daily commute from a mundane chore into an enjoyable experience. Let’s dive into the standout features that make the A7 a top contender in the urban mobility space.

Oh – there’s a mid-drive version called the A7 Pro. That’s on my Christmas list. For now, let’s take a legit, honest look at the A7.

To compare, we’ll match it up with another great bike in the same price range and with similar features, the Velotric Breeze.

At the heart of the Himiway A7 is a powerful 500W brushless gear hub motor that delivers impressive performance for quick acceleration and conquering city hills with ease. Velotric’s 750 Watt motor has a little more torque, which is great for loose dirt or really steep hills, or riding a bit faster. But that’s technically not legal in our jurisdiction, so that.

And like the Breeze, the A7’s 500 Watt motor is complemented by a switchable torque and cadence sensor, allowing you to choose between a more natural-feeling, effort-based torque assist, or a more consistent, speed-based cadence assist to suit your riding style and terrain. It’s actually kind of a cool function! We’ve got some 8% grade in this ridiculously mountainous Alabama neighborhood, but the A7’s 500 Watt motor handles it with no trouble, even with throttle only.

Fueling your journeys is a high-capacity 48V 15Ah LG lithium-ion battery. The battery is seamlessly integrated into the frame for a sleek look. It’s 720 Watt hours, about enough to power your Himiway A7 for about an hour and a half at full throttle at 20-ish MPH on a full charge.  The battery is advertised to have an impressive maximum range of up to 80 miles on a single charge, depending on your riding style and terrain – meaning if your pedal A LOT. Personally, I don’t know anyone who rides 80 miles in a ride, but there’s probably some hard-core knucklehead with nothing better to do who will try it.

Basically, this means you can confidently tackle your daily commute and even embark on longer weekend adventures without that dreaded “range anxiety.”

One of the my favorite features of the A7 is its full-suspension system. Our Velotric Breeze only has front suspension, so it’s a little hard on the butt on bumpy rides.   Check the coil spring fork with 120mm of travel and a coil spring rear shock. This combination effectively absorbs bumps, potholes, and uneven pavement, providing a smooth and comfortable ride even on rough city streets. Whether you’re navigating a construction zone or cruising on a cobblestone street, the A7 ensures a comfortable and stable ride.

Himiway has equipped the A7 with a host of high-quality components, ensuring reliability and a premium feel. Here are some of the highlights:

  • The Shimano 8-Speed Drivetrain: provides a wide range of gears, allowing you to find the perfect cadence for any situation, from climbing steep inclines to cruising on flat roads.
  • The Shimano MT200 Hydraulic Disc Brakes offer excellent stopping power and modulation in all weather conditions, giving you the confidence to navigate busy city traffic safely.
  • Kenda 27.5″ x 2.4″ Tires are sturdy and durable city tires are ideal for urban cycling, providing a great balance of grip and comfort.
  • A clear full color LCD display provides all your essential ride data at a glance, including speed, battery level, and pedal-assist level.

The Himiway A7 is not just about performance; it’s also designed with the commuter in mind. The frame design makes it easy to get on and off the bike, even when wearing work attire. It also comes with a range of practical features, including:

  • The sturdy MIK Rear Rack is compatible with the MIK system, allowing you to easily attach a variety of bags and accessories.
  • The bike is equipped with a super bright headlight and a rear taillight with a brake light function, enhancing your visibility and safety, especially when riding at night.
  • Now, the Velotric Breeze one-ups that with turn signals. Not sure if that’s your thing, but wanted to mention that.
  • The included front and rear fenders help to keep you clean and dry on wet roads. Breeze don’t got no fenders. I don’t ride in the rain if I can help it, so no big deal.
  • An adjustable stem allows you to customize the handlebar position for a more comfortable and ergonomic riding posture.

The Himiway A7 is a well-rounded and feature-rich electric commuter bike that offers a compelling blend of power, comfort, and practicality. With its powerful hub motor, fairly long-range battery, and full-suspension, it’s more than capable of handling the rigors of daily commuting – or weekend adventures.

I mean, if you’re a hard-core 19 year-old mountain biker, you might want something a little more beefy. But for the rest of us normal people, this bike is fire!

If you’re looking for a high-quality, reliable, and enjoyable way to navigate your city, the Himiway A7 is an excellent choice that offers great value for its features.
